Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). A few years later, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. From 1981 onwards she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for Congress. Then, in 1992 she was made the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. She was part of the panel at the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended various summits while in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
